How to Prepare Matcha

Traditional Method using a Bamboo Whisk (Chasen)

You’ll need:

  • Matcha powder
  • Hot water (80°C / 175°F)
  • Matcha bowl (Chawan)
  • Bamboo whisk (Chasen)

Process

  • Sift 1-2 scoops of matcha into your bowl to remove lumps.
  • Pour in about 2oz (60ml) of hot water.
  • Whisk vigorously in a W-motion until a thick froth forms.
  • Add accessories or milk if desired and enjoy.
